Job Title:Research & Development Manager (San Pablo City, Laguna – based)
I. Job Summary:
Lead the research and development department in initiatives to innovate products and processes to meet organizational objectives. Responsible for process technologies re-engineering and redesign to attain. With experience in creating new products. Preferably with knowledge in packaging, ingredients and knows how to cook/bake. Preferably from a food manufacturing company.
II. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop strategic planning of process and product development activities.
Overall responsible for development of existing products and develop new products, product enhancements and product design in line with the marketing and sales strategies.
Provide technical direction R&D team through testing and analysis of new products and innovations.
Responsible for a continuous flow of product research and innovation leading to the improvement of existing products and new product launches.
Coordinate and collaborate with Sales & Marketing, Production, Quality and other departments regarding product specification and assessment.
Communicate strategy developments, ongoing department key activities, prioritization of initiatives, challenges to the management and executive committee.
Keep firmly abreast with new technologies and processes in food manufacturing and assess if applicable for the company; communicates industry trends and new technologies that can provide the organization with a competitive advantage.
Conduct exploratory research of emerging new products and explored for feasibility through contact with consumers and customers and conducting competitive benchmarking.
Ensure standard and customer-required quality systems are in place.
Analyze departmental performance results and data against defined parameters.
Perform leadership functions which include building task commitment and optimism, coaching, training, alignment of objectives and strategies and directing.
Generate reports and analysis deemed necessary for audit and/or regulatory compliance and reports.
Willing to be assigned in San Pablo City, Laguna
III. Job Requirements:
a.Education
Requires a degree in Food Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or any related course
b.Experience
With at least 3 years work experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control in a food manufacturing company with 1 year leadership experience.
c.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Expert in Quality Management Systems in food manufacturing
Strong knowledge in Food Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Point (HACCP)
Knowledge of food chemistry to develop new formulations for existing products and formulations for new products.
Innovative, resourceful and has a knack for technology
Meticulous, organized and keen to the details
Expert in conducting research
Good in statistical/mathematical analysis
Skilled in handling different laboratory instruments
Decisive and has a good judgment
Meticulous, organized and keen to the details
Strong leadership skills and people management skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Has a sense of urgency to work and solve complex problems and issues under pressure
Able to foster and maintain effective working relationship within the department and collaborate among other departments
Has good reporting and presentation skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel & PowerPoint
